      (02/01/2025)    We have a new Synod treasurer - Bruce Kemp, retired Presbyterian minister living in Westport, Ontario. We bid a fond farewell to Ross Davidson and a hearty welcome to Bruce!

      Synod 2024...  took place October 18 & 19, 2024 in Arnprior ON. Theme speaker was Rev. Carey Niewhof. Guy Smagghe of PWS&D also made an appearance. Slides, video of two theme addresses and links to info on PWS&D are available on the Synod2024 page here. We welcome the new Synod moderator, Rev. Gerry Gallant, minister of St. Andrew's Church, Perth ON.

    Presbyterian College award...   It was recently learned that the Presbyterian College, Montreal at it's June 6, 2024 convocation bestowed on Mrs. Donna McIlveen the inaugural Principal’s Award for Faithful Service and Distinguished Leadership. Donna's extensive service to the Presbyterian Church in Canada, including roles as Director of Christian Education, Administrator and Treasurer for the Order of Diaconal Ministries, and long-term Clerk of Synod of Quebec and Eastern Ontario, was recognized with deep appreciation. Congrats, Donna! - hey, they forgot to mention convener of the Life and Mission Agency (G.W.)

      Retirement...  Members of the Seaway-Glengarry Presbytery gathered at Riverview church, Iroquois on September 6 to celebrate the retirement of retirement of Geoff HowardCongrats and best wishes, Geoff!   View a photo of the group gathered there here.

      Amalgamation...  We are informed that the congregations of the Ghanaian Presbyteriand Church and Westminster, Pierrefonds in the Presbytery of Montreal are exploring the possibility of amalgamating. Stay tuned...

      Withdrawal...  Four congregations within the Synod are in the process of withdrawing from the PCC:  The Arabic Church, St, John's, Duvernay and Cote de Neiges in the Presbytery of Montreal and St. Andrew's, Perth in the Presbytery of Lanark-Renfrew.

      The Acts and Procedings from the 2024 General Assembly are now available for download here.

      The congregation of St. Paul's, Scotstown QC was dissolved on June 15, 2024; the congregation of Leggatt’s Point, Grand Metis QC was dissolved on July 31, 2024. Both are withing the Presbytery of Quebec. In reviewing dissolutions, it was discovered that St. Andrew's, Hemmingford QC, within the Presbytery of Montreal, was dissolved on December 31, 2022; also, Riverfield PC in Howick QC was dissolved on 20 Jun 2023; it's sister church, Beechridge in St. Urbain QC continues.

      (07/05/2023)   We recently learned of the passing of Sandy McCuan, former clerk of the Presbytery of Lanark-Renfrew, on July 5, 2023. Read Sandy's obituary here.
